Default Information on Voodoo by Paul Williams

Hi,

I bought the voodoo plan by Paul Williams here in Germany. I'd like to build it, but they only send me one sheet. Do you have any more information? I have the big plan with sheetings on it, but not the build article for constructionŽdetails. There is something written about flexible shaft surface drive... do you have any information for me? Did someone find out what size of propeller you can drive?

Kind regards from Germany

Marcus

I wish I could help you, but I've never heard of these plans. Hopefully someone will see this thread who has some knowledge of this boat. Doug

Thanks anyway. Maybe does someone have experience with flexible shaft and surface propeller? It should be driven with 540 stock motor.

Thanks. But guess If i don't find the missing parts of the plan, I will switch to another model. I have a nice Robbe Sports 430/9 Motor I don't need at the moment, can be driven with 14 cells. had it once in a ASH 25 (plane).
Can you suggest some model that can powered with it?
I attached the data sheet of the motor.

Thank you.

I too have built the VooDoo from plans that were from Traplet mag. Now it was the hardest boat to build and i stepped it 1 step or did it already have a step. Now it was along time ago.Where's the gallery anyway, can you direct me, thanks.

Thanks for the tip. I managed to organize this Mag from Traplet Store they printed in May, 1996. So, I will try to build this hull.

Where did you place a solid shaft? As surface drive? Do you have a picture and did you test it so far?

Thanks from Hamburg

My VooDoo came out on the heavy side. The 540/05 isn't quite big enough to power the VD. The reply with a Grauper 600 on 8 cells or a lipo with 11.1 would do the job. Ok, 8 cells x 1.4 = 11.2 volts----11.1 fully charged would be over 12 volts, so that rules out the 11.1 lipo. Now you could do this with 7.4 lipos in parallel in saddle pack formation but lipos with less weight would have to be pushed forward about 1 1/2" to attain the 30% CG. The motor would lay at the bottom of the step so you could run a straight shaft. Running flex would be a problem as flex cable should not run a flat line for whiplash in stuffing tube ans should run teflon liner to keep water out. Flat line flex increases water where a small bend with motor higher in boat decreases and will not let water come up the stuffing tube. I've been there, done that. Would i build that VD again, absolutely not. The best boat out is a downsized Wild thing to the tune of 26" or 650mm in lenght ans 7 1/2" wide or 187.5mm.
